INDUCTION AND SAFETY PASSPORT (FOUNDATION)

Upon completion of this program, the participants will be able to change the mindset of workers toward safety-first attitude, which is to elevate safety and health at the workplace to the same level as other business functions in the industry, and to practice it at the highest standard possible. Provide the basic training for contractor's workers on the recognition of the hazards and risks present in the oil and gas industry, and the precautionary and control measures necessary to ensure safe and healthy working conditions and minimize accidents at the workplace. The training also provides the necessary knowledge on laws affecting safety and health at the workplace, specifically the Occupational Safety and Health Act 1994 and its Regulations.

  • Safe behaviour at work: Types of accidents that happen at work, causes of accidents at work, rules at work, why do things go wrong, being `reasonably practical', duties at work, shaping safety behaviour.
  • Safe place to work: Hazard, risk and associated controls, confined spaces, work permits, excavations, working at heights, fire risk control, site vehicles.
  • Safe systems of work: Work equipment, mechanical lifting operations, electricity, energy & hazard isolution, manual handling.
  • Safety problems and safe solutions: Noise, vibrating equipment, reporting accidents, first aid, hazardous substance, asbestos, the environment and welfare.

Accident in confined spaces were causes by oxygen deficiency, toxic gas, and flammable gas. Accidents in confined spaces bear several common features such a s absence of or insufficient safeguards, neglect of safe practices and procedures, and employment of contract employees without adequate training in safety procedures. NIOSH and DOSH Malaysia had set up the national standards for confined spaces safety. Whereby a competent person would have a permit through the industrial code of practice for safe working in a confined space.

Working Safety At Height (Basic)

WORKING SAFETY AT HEIGHT (BASIC)

The Regulations apply to all work at height, where there is risk of a fall liable to cause personal injury. They place duties on employers, and those who control any work at height activity (such as facilities managers or building owners who may contract others to work at height).

The course is theory based but includes a practical risk assessment exercise such as the difference between hazard, risk and controls, steps of risk assessment using a risk matrix, how to apply control to reduce risk to ALARP, the need of continuous risk assessment and how to prepare and document a risk assessment using a Risk Matrix. Delegates will carry out detailed Assessments of work place scenarios in which they will need to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of the course content.
