Welding & Structural Integrity

Welding & Structural Integrity

With the industrial growth, it has become necessary to monitor the condition of the machine/system. Electrical machines mainly power transformer and electric motors being the most sensitive part has great importance for the facilities to run the production without any abnormalities. A wide variety of tests have been developed and standardized to help manufacturers and users of motor to assess the condition.

This training course will provide an understanding of electric motor, their materials, components and how they operate. It also emphasizes the importance of motor management life especially for those electric motors which have been in operation for 10 years and more. The course will address in detail all aspects related to electric motor principles, calculations, operation, testing and maintenance.

Objectives
  • Welding variables (process, equipment and consumables) and recognize its importance in the properties of materials and compliance to code/standard.
  • How residual stresses and distortion in welded steel structures occur and methods for prevention.
  • Deformation and fracture phenomena in material processing and in-service performance.
  • Material properties of steel to produce a sound weld and common weld process crack mechanism (characteristics, causes and avoidance).
  • Steel material, benefit from heat treatments, particularly after welding or manufacturing processes.
  • Origination of defective weld and how repairs are carried out – important steps for reclamation of the outcome.
