Natural Gas treatment & Steam Reformer

Natural Gas treatment & Steam Reformer

This 2-day technical training program is designed to strengthen operational knowledge and safety awareness for personnel involved in natural gas receiving, gas treatment, and steam reforming operations. The course focuses on Pre-Reformer, Steam Reformer, and Autothermal Reformer (ATR), covering start-up, normal operation, shutdown, emergency shutdown (ESD), troubleshooting, and maintenance awareness. Participants will learn to recognize common operational issues, identify early warning signs, and apply best practices to improve reliability, safety, and plant performance. The program concludes with a Process Control & Emergency Response sharing session based on real industrial incidents, highlighting the importance of preparedness, teamwork, and disciplined response. Delivered by an experienced trainer and certified emergency response professional, this course bridges theory and practice to support safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations.

Course Objectives
  • Safely operate and monitor natural gas treatment and steam reforming facilities
  • Understand the link between feed gas quality, hydrogenation, desulphurization, and reforming operations
  • Apply correct start-up, normal operation, shutdown, and emergency shutdown (ESD) procedures
  • Identify critical operating parameters and limits to prevent catalyst damage, carbon formation, tube overheating, and sulphur breakthrough
