Preservation: Integrity Management of Inoperational Material & Equipment
Proper preservation is critical in ensuring all electrical, instrumentation, and mechanical material and equipment remain in optimal condition during storage, transportation, installation, and commissioning. Failure to preserve materials correctly can lead to premature degradation, moisture damage, corrosion, electrical failures, malfunction of sensitive components, costly replacement or refurbishment and ultimately project delay. This training provides a comprehensive understanding of preservation requirements, best practices, standards, and monitoring techniques for safeguarding equipment throughout its lifecycle, especially during long storage durations common in oil & gas, petrochemical, power plant, and infrastructure projects. Participants will gain the knowledge needed to implement preservation programs that align with OEM recommendations, project specifications, and industry standards.
Course Objectives
- Understand the importance and principles of material preservation for electrical, instrument, and mechanical equipment.
- Identify common environmental and handling risks affecting material integrity during storage and transportation.
- Apply proper preservation techniques for different categories of equipment and materials.
- Establish a systematic preservation procedure or plan based on project and OEM requirements.
- Conduct preservation inspections, monitoring, and documentation effectively.
- Recognize non-conformances and take corrective actions before equipment is installed or commissioned.
- Ensure compliance with relevant standards and client expectations
