This course is specially designed to introduce trainees to the duties and responsibilities of a Fire Fighting Team, and to obtain the necessary skill of fire safety, prevention, and risk assessment. This course provides awareness of the danger of fire, guidance in the use of extinguishers and how to carry out the fire routine procedure.

DAY 1

Introduction to Fire, Fire Safety & Legislation

  • Introduction to the course
  • Some facts about fire incidents in Malaysia
  • Act & Legislation related to Fire Safety for building and factories.
  • Regulatory bodies who responsible to regulate, supervise, monitor and enforce fire safety in Malaysia

Know the Characteristic of Fire, then we know how to control it!

  • Definition of fire
  • TRIANGLE of Fire
  • Chemistry of Fire
  • Basic Combustion Process
  • Product of Combustion – smoke & hazardous gases
  • Class of Fire
  • How fire propagate/spread – transmission of heat.

Fire Safety Equipment & Monitoring System

  • Fire Alam System and Control Panel
  • Siren
  • Fire Door and Exit Signage
  • Evacuation Plan/Map/Route
  • Sprinkle System Operation and Maintenance
  • Riser and Hose Reel
  • Jockey Pump System and ringline (if installed)

Fire Extinguishing Process (THEORY)

  • Methods of extinguishing fire – Smothering, Cooling, Starvation and Reaction
  • TYPE OF PORTABLE FIRE EXTINGUISHER – A/B/C
  • Design, construction, and operation of portable fire extinguisher
  • Hydrant & Hose Reel operation principle
  • Other methods of fire extinguishing process



DAY 2

Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE)

  • Types of PPE required during fire extinguishing process – Fire Helmet, Fire Mask, Fire Jacket, Self-Contain Breathing Apparatus, Gloves.

Practical Session Using Portable Fire Extinguisher – OUTDOOR

  • Operating a portable fire extinguisher
  • Demonstrating by trainer
  • Individual Practical session

Basic Fire Rescue Techniques

  • Self-rescue methods
  • Risk assessment
  • Safety pre-caution to be taken
  • Fire blanket
  • Handling of victims & First Aiders

Introduction to Emergency Response Plan (ERP)

  • What is ERP?
  • Development of ERP document
  • Roles & Responsibilities of Emergency Response Team
  • Evacuation Plan and Assembly Points
  • MOCK EVACUATION/FIRE DRILL
