Accidents in confined spaces were caused by oxygen deficiency, toxic gas, and flammable gas. Accidents in confined spaces bear several common features such as absence of or insufficient safeguards, neglect of safe practices and procedures, and employment of contract employees without adequate training in safety procedures. NIOSH and DOSH Malaysia had set up the national standards for confined spaces safety. Whereby a competent person would have a permit through the industrial code of practice for safe working in a confined space.
Objectives
- Able to sate legal requirement partaining to confined space.
- Describe the presence of hazards at the confined space.
- Apply confined space entry procedures.
- Use the personal protective equipment and other related equipme nt associated with confined space occupation.
- State the duties / responsibilities and carry out the duties of Authorised Entrants and Stand-by Person.
- Qualify the workers as competent workers (Authorised Entrant & Stand-by Person) for confined space occupation.
