Corrosion Fundamentals & Corrosion Protection For Facilities Operation/Maintenance Personnel

This is a 2 days training aim to provide participants with the much needed basic knowledge on corrosion fundamentals and corrosion protection.
Objectives
This program is aimed to examine the knowledge and experience of the candidate who is expected to have acquired sufficient skills as a cathodic protection practitioner in order for him/her to manage a team of cathodic protection engineers, technicians and supervisors as well as to communicate with the stakeholders. He/she shall be examined not only in terms of technical knowledge and technical code- of-conduct and integrity, but also on his/her capabilities to manage a team of personnel under his/her wing.

- Some common mistakes made by designer or engineer who prepared the technical drawings specifications.
- Poor QA/QC lead to early corrosion of newly built facilities.
- Philosophy of maintenance.
- How long can facilities or structures last with good maintenance?
- Methods of corrosion protection.
- Do galvanised and stainless steel surface need to be protected against corrosion?
- Corrosion protection by painting:
- What is paint?
- The importance of surface preparation.
- Painting specification and coating selection.
- Application and storage of paints.
- Paint faults and coating defects.
- Test and measuring instruments to be used for QA/QC.
- Safety and health
- The role of a Coating Inspector
